The Flow of Life, LK

Due to my growing up in a stressful environment, ever since I was 4 or 5 years old I had a longing and an affection toward the Creator in my little heart. I knew that although the environment was difficult, the Creator who is not a respecter of persons surely would not forsake me (Acts 10:34). As I grew up, my seeking and hunger to gain the eternal life grew more intensely. Several times I wanted to attend some church meetings, but was not able to due to my parents' disapproval. In 1984, under God's sovereignty, my husband and I met a believer who was meeting in the local church in Houston. Because of this wondrous meeting/contact, I finally found what I was seeking and hungry for many years.

In these ten years or so, I really have been very thankful to God that He brought me to experience the house of God through those meeting in the local church. These believers strive to preach the gospel, spread the truth, and build the Body of the Lord Jesus (the church) (Ephesians 1:22-23). I would like to testify to the world how they have helped us in our spiritual living:

There is a group of people here who have a proper knowledge of the truth, and who are able to cut straight the word of the truth (2 Timothy 2:15). This helps us to know the truth and to be hungry for the truth. Their faithful attitude in being willing to stand for the truth encourages us to pursue the Lord, and to desire to be wholly constituted with the truth. I have some Christian friends, whom though we do not meet together on the Lord's day, will always tell me every time they see me that my knowledge of the truth is far beyond theirs. I can only say that this is God's grace being richly poured on me through the believers in the local church!

When children grow up in the local church, the members strive to preserve the simplicity of the children, feeding them with the guileless milk of the word, so that they can be constituted with the truth (1 Peter 2:2). My oldest son will be a sophomore in college after this summer. In his college life in the past year, he was living with college age believers who cared for him and helped him grow in the Lord. Although that was the first time he left home, (to be home sick was unavoidable), he was well cared for under the leading of the believers in the church in that locality. As a result, he tasted the Lord's grace. This really caused us, the parents, to be at peace, and we trust that through the prayers and petitions of these believers, my son will be hungry for the Lord, and that he will be wise unto salvation in his living (2 Timothy 3:15).

There is a group of people here who love the Lord, know the truth, and are willing to practice the truth in their daily living. They are gentle in our midst, as a nursing mother would cherish her own children, this softens our hard hearts. Gradually my life has brightened up, as the Bible says, “the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.” (1 John 2:8) Every time when I have doubts or am faced with problems, the believers here will not give me opinions, instructions, or methods as I would imagine, rather they will lead me to God, the source of life. They will lead me to read Bible verses prayerfully, to pray to draw near to God, to be permeated with the flow of life that flows out from the throne of God and of the Lamb, from which comes the wisdom of God. This easily solves all the doubts and problems I have. I want to thank God and praise God my whole life.
